Newlands Mab Lane
To celebrate the planting of 20,000 trees on the newly created Mab Lane Community Woodland on two former brownfield sites, school children from West Derby, Liverpool took part in a mass wildflower balloon release. Biodegradable balloons with wildflower seed paper attached were released into the air to help plant vibrant patches of wild flowers right across the region and beyond. And if that wasn't enough, an Ultimate Frisbee Challenge followed where the children got the chance to play in the new green spaces.
We organised the launch event and press for Mab Lane getting stakeholders and local people engaged with this brand new green space. The event was attended by Cllr Tim Moore (Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change), Joe Dwek CBE (Board Member NWDA) and Keith Jones (Regional Director, Forestry Commission).
The event was a great success and the balloons were found across the local area and beyond. We even had an email from school children in Chesterfield who have planted the wildflower seeds and are eagerly awaiting the results!
